IMDB rating: 2.80 Plot: The greedy Braylon owns the Just Rite Sugar Company and has hired the unethical scientist Sergei to conduct an experiment to make an addictive sugar stronger than heroin or nicotine to increase his sales. Sergei uses invisible people as test subjects, like beggars, addicted junkies and illegals, in the clandestine Shadow Rock Mill. When Braylon’s men mistakenly kidnap Ryan, who is the brother of his secretary Erin and son of his security chief Griff, and Hannah, the youngster becomes an important non-contaminated subject. However, Erin receives some mysterious e-mails from the unknown Cinderella with a picture of Ryan and a hint that he might be in Shadow Rock and together with her father, they decide to seek out Ryan. |

Genetics and chi squared with fruit flies?
A newly identified fruit fly mutant, cyclops eye is hypothesized to be autosomal dominant. The experimenter started with homozygous wild type females (yes, virgins) and homozygous cyclops males. The data from the F2 generation was 44 wild type males, 60 wild type females, 110 cyclops males, and 150 cyclops females. Does this data support or reject the hypothesis? Use chi square to prove your position. Show all work.
C’: cyclops
C: normal
P: CC x C’C’
F1: C’C (all cyclops)
Gametes: C’ and C
F2: 1 C’C’ : 2 C’C : 1 CC or 3 cyclops : 1 normal
F2: 44 wild type males, 60 wild type females, 110 cyclops males, and 150 cyclops females.
Because this is autosomal dominant, so we group the mutant and wild types as 260 and 104
Does this data support or reject the hypothesis?
Pheno | obs | exp | (o-e) | (o-e)^2 | (o-e)^2/e |
Mutant | 260 | 273 | -13 .|… 169 …|… 0.65 …..|
Wild —| 104 | 91 .| 13 …|… 169 ….|…1.625 …|
The value of Chi-square = 0.65 + 1.625 = 2.275
So with the degree of freedom of 1 (two classes), the probability (from the Chi-Square Distribution table), p > 0.05 meaning that the hypothesis can be accepted.

Kidney/Back pain, doctors don't know what it is?
In 2005 I got this pain in my right side just under my rib cage, it felt like it was inside rather than a muscular pain. After a few months of pain everyday I went to the doctor who tested my urine and prescribed anti inflammatory meds and pain killers. After taking these for another few months with no improvement (it just made it managable) I went back to the doctor who referred me to a specialist. I had a scan and one of those radioactive tests with the dye. Everything came back clear. Suddenly the pain disappeared like I had never had it, until last month, it’s back with a vengeance and I have no idea what to do about it. The only thing that helps it is heat.
This may sound stupid and you’ve probably all ready tried this, but have you looked at the similarities with the food you’ve been eating when the pain occurs. Apparently most conditions are related to the food we eat, perhaps your not getting enough water or vitamins.

I had similar pains and it turned out to be kidney stones it is terribly painful,i have bouts of it every few years lasting for a week or so.You could bringing this possibility up with your doctor,it is not easy to diagnose. Also look it up on the internet.

Right side under the ribs…sounds like gallbladder related or biliary tree related. It is true you should pay attention to what you have eaten and not eat a high fat content as this could trigger it. I would ask for a gallbladder ultrasound!
Barb M | Feb 10, 2010
I would agree that it could well be your gallbladder. When the stones move or pass you will feel an intense pain in the lower right area. If you experience any jaundice, it’s normally a stone that hasn’t passed and has caused a blockage.

IMDB rating: 7.40 Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash. |

Credit Card settlement?
Hello,
I have a SBI credit card which i had used. I have also stopped making minimum payments since the last 3 years. The principal outstanding of my card is Rs. 25000 and the total outstanding is 70000. I got a call from the collections department asking me to pay 30000 towards settlement of the account. Now after 2 months i got an e-mail from the person asking me to make a payment of 40000 towards settlement of the account in 4 installments. In my exchange of emails with the officer I had mentioned that i am out of job now due to the recession and am still on the lookout for a job, but I am willing to repay back in installments. I am not sure about how I can get this card settled or how much will be waivered of because of settlement. Please suggest as to how much can be waivered and is it the principal limit I have to take into consideration or the total outstanding?
Thanks & Regards,
Vincentj

In card settlement you should have a good bargain power. If they are asking for 40000/- then it could be settle in around 30000/- and what ever the settlement amount you could pay in installment.

Vincent, with the debt in question being 3 years old, before you agree to ANYTHING please check the Statute of Limitations (SOL) for your state! If the age of your debt (the elapsed time between now and the last time you paid) is greater than or equal to the SOL, a Debt Collector can pursue you BUT the debt is uncollectable! Got to http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/ statuteLimitations.shtml, find your state, and look up the number in the "Open Ended" column. This number is the SOL and again, if the age of your debt is greater than or equal to this number, you can tell the Debt Collector to (insert expletive) off! (In legal terms, of course!)

IMDB rating: 7.00 Plot: The path of Francesca Johnson’s future seems destined when an unexpected fork in the road causes her to question everything she had come to expect from life. While her husband and children are away at the Iowa state fair in the Summer of 1965, Robert Kincaid happens upon the Johnson farm and asks Francesca for directions to Rosamunde Bridge. He explains that he is on assignment from National Geographic magazine to photograph the bridges of Madison County. She agrees to show him to the bridges and thus begins the bittersweet and all-too-brief romance of her life. Through the pain of separation from her secret love and the stark isolation she feels as the details of her life consume her, she writes down the story of this four-day love affair in a 3-volume diary. The diary is found by her children among her possessions and alongside Robert Kincaid’s possessions after Francesca is dead. The message they take from the diaries is one of hope that they will do what is necessary to find happiness in their lives — whatever is necessary. After learning that Robert Kincaid’s cremated remains were scattered off Rosamunde Bridge and that their mother requested a similar disposition for her own ashes, the children must decide whether to honor their mother’s final wishes or bury her alongside their father as the family had planned. Adapted from the novel by Robert Waller, this is the story of love that happens just once in a lifetime — if you’re lucky. |

Ladies, did you find 'The Bridges of Madison County' to be bullsh*t?
If you found the great love of your life, would you leave or stay because of the family?
This book is essentially worthless drivel. "He moves like a gazelle.." ?!? Is the author serious? To say the book is cliche ridden is an understatement. The writing is sophomoric and the characters are developed not in action, but in ridiculous cliched descriptions like the gazelle simile. The saddest thing is that this could have been a great story. The plot has potential. A long lost forbidden and passionate love affair, discovered after the two main players are deceased. The woman’s children having to figure out what happened years ago based on their dead mother’s diary. This book could have been brilliant and instead its like a bad passage from the Song of Soloman.
Aslan | Oct 10, 2009
The big debate with this book is that a man wrote it. It is hard to put yourself in someone else’s place let alone that of the opposite sex, but when a woman knows nothing else and is from a small town perhaps her choice would be to stay. She’s had at least that one adventure and for some that is enough. Not everyone is jaded in the world and it is nice to see that for a change instead of the lying, cheating, murdering, attitudes we’ve come to expect.
The innocence of the story is what gave it its great appeal.

arent you embarassed?
ok, so this is a question to all you americans out there…
arent you embarassed that the rest of the world views you as uneducated and stupid?
for example, "Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone" was changed to "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone", because it was discovered most americans wouldnt read it because they dont know what a philosopher was.
the movie "Henry VIII" was renamed "Henry" because most americans polled said they wouldnt watch it because they’d missed the first 7 movies.
Sorcerer is harder to understand than philosopher

Anastasia | Feb 10, 2010
I don’t find it embarrassing. Personally I prefer the terms ‘Philosopher’s’ and ‘Henry VIII’ because they sound more formal, but that’s just me.
I do, however, find it annoying that other countries assume all Americans are fat, lazy, and stupid simply because people who fit those profiles exist here. There are plenty of great people here, but foreigners look past them and assume everyone here is useless.
I’m not saying America is perfect, but foreigners seem to make assumptions that all Americans fit a certain agenda based on stereotypes.

Should I confide in my friends or not?
Hi everyone :)!
So I have a bit of a social dilemma, and would be very grateful for some help/tips. Well, the problem is that there’s a guy in my class who’s really nice and who likes me but whom I’m not sure about whether I like or not, and then there’s also a guy in my class who I have a bit of a crush on.
I also have three close friends in my class, two of whom are inseperable from one another. I’ve been thinking about whether I should tell my two friends this or not, since it would be nice to confide in someone, but on the other hand they’re also good friends with two girls in my class who are a bit gossipy. I’m a bit scared that they might tell these girls and then the secret would be out, since this happened to me a long time ago (not in my current class though) where a guy in my class found out that I liked him, which was really embarrasing! My two friends and I have recently drifted apart a bit though, which is a shame since I really like them but they’re very focused on boys, which I find a bit annoying to talk about all the time. I would really like to mend the rift between us, but I dunno if it should be at my expense.
Please help me, I did promise that I would tell them my secret but do you think I should tell them or try to avoid them instead? Oh and sorry if I waffled a bit, just had to tell the whole story.
Thanks for your help!
Best wishes,
Sophie
Hey, if you like him, then it wouldn’t be that a huge of a deal if he "accidently" found out. And if he does, hey, maybe something will happen! (:

Rephrasing my porn question to give more details!?
My husband was home working from home for 3 years WITHOUT an income. We had a good sex life, actually I wanted more! LOL….I did. My needs were not being met=in my eyes anyways. see ….come to find out by fluke that he is on porno on the computer. Nice, huh? Yes and I have four children. This is what I have come to…going online to ask the world questions to my life/pathetic? You betcha.
So he has no income, financial disaster, though I pick up the pieces as usual. I work, started my own business in the middle of stress, and etc.
One day I had to stay home and he was so anxious. Pacing back and forth actually. "Why are you home?" Then he added, "Your my problem, not money anymore!" Either he had an appointment for sex/porno/whatever! or what mental illness?
Maybe I agree it is not really cheating afterall but it can become an addiction. I guess I am just groping for answers because the man I married is no longer around. He died with his ideas of grandour, sitting on a computer all day long, porn/?/cell phone porno too?
I guess when the day is done you just have to know your a good person, do what you love, keep your priorities in line (my kids of course), and know you cannot fix someone, right?
Ok just wanting this I guess to be my last vent session. Good luck to all you fellow nice people out there! On to taking care of my kids and a better life! I deserve it.
Sincerely,
Mary The Wife
I agree. Yes, when the day is done, you just have to know you’re a good person, do what you love, keep your priorities in line, and know you cannot fix someone,
Happy-2 | Jan 27, 2010
I read your other questions and the answer is clear.
LEAVE HIM!
You have asked many questions and the answer is always (or almost) the same, leave him. I think the problem is you don’t want to see the truth. You’re still hoping for a change even if you know it is very unlikely for him to change. You have to do what’s best for your children, they’re your priority, and that type of parental figure will do no good to them. Whenever he calls you bad words, where are your children? Whenever he’s watching porn in the computer or on his cell, where are your children? They could perfectly be hiding behind a door, hearing or watching everything he’s doing or saying. And that’s the stuff they’ll learn. If daddy does it, it most be ok, right?
Do what’s best for you and your children and leave that guy!

Common sense isn't anymore.. | Jan 27, 2010
I usually jump over the porn questions but this one seemed intriguing. Since I didn’t read the last one I guess I have to say that when a person is taken out or purposely takes themselves out of the worlds view of their role in life then things just start falling apart. He needs a wake up call but only after you either make him get a job or you get one for him. What I am saying is he will end up with the kids and you will pay support on more levels than you will want. Make him get a job, disconnect the computer, and put him on notice. Spell it out to him how it’s going to be (even though he seems to be in the catbird seat). Homeless and penny less! keep injecting that thought. All day for months till he smells the coffee.

your assumptions are correct - he needs fixed, it is up to you whether you remain with him during his repair or not, sometimes being patient with other people takes entirely too long and you must fend for yourself, and for your children.
physically it is not cheating BUT it is still cheating on you, if you are not participating mutually with him in the pron sessions for the benefit of both of your sex lives it is one sided and it is cheating. his duress with you home is the biggest clue, you aren’t invited to his porn sessions, he is achieving his needs but neglecting yours. AND his needs are being met by others not by you, he should give you this opportunity.
he is not fulfilling his role as husband / provider / father to the family, you are correct by stating you and the children deserve more, you can accomplish more without him to burden you and set horrible examples for the children.
as for your comment of (This is what I have come to…going online to ask the world questions to my life/pathetic? You betcha. ) sometimes it is easier to talk to a stranger than it is to family and friends because we don’t have prejudices against you because we don’t know you. but you do deserve all that the world has to offer you. don’t put yourself down over him.
we hope that your "venting" has helped you in realizing your new found freedoms and wish you luck in achieving what is best for you and your children

Books (fiction or non-fiction) with afterlife theme?
I am looking for two different types of books:
Fiction: Books that represent a family or close loved one and the other side watches them from wherever they are, or the setting is the afterlife in general. (Example: Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin, Five People You Meet In Heaven, What Dreams May Come)
Non-fiction: Books discussing the afterlife, scientific proof and testimonials from psychics/mediums/clairvoyants/witnesses.
I am looking to soothe my overwhelming fear of death by cushioning myself in the thought of an afterlife.
I believe religion could possibly just be a story to keep the world in regulated order so we don’t kill ourselves as a human race or feel like there is nothing to live for in case we just die and cease to exist.
The Lovely Bones was good (not the movie) lol

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
